Tai Chi Fundamentals Class- 6 Week ZOOM Course

This 6 Week ZOOM Course will cover important Tai Chi Principles and Concepts, as well as fundamental Tai Chi Qigong, Nei Gong, Stepping Exercises and vital leg/whole body drills- click to contact Sifu Mike (or email mikesf321@yahoo.com) to join and for payment info., $20 per class (take one or all). Each class will focus on new material as well as review of the previous material. All levels/ styles are welcome to join us as this material is applicable to any style of Tai Chi or CMA and related, and for new students serves as an introduction to traditional Chinese T’ai Chi Ch’uan (Taijiquan). Here is an outline of the material we will cover:

  • Tai Chi Principles and Concepts- classic Tai Chi Principles, 6 Harmonies, and more important fundamental Tai Chi Principles/ Concepts

  • Joint/Tendon/Sinew Qigong

  • A variety of arm swing and hand shake methods

  • Upper + Lower “Cloud Breathing” Methods (cleansing qigong, a.k.a. ‘Infinity Qigong’ and ‘Sun and Moon Qigong’).

  • Tai Chi Qigong- 6 exercises, 2 per week

  • Embrace the Tree Standing Meditation- 2 ways to stand including the inner nei gung, a key fundamental standing posture to activate and circulate energy, build inner strength and purify internal energy

  • Lotus Palm Standing Meditation- for centering mind/body/energy at lower dan-tien, naturally circulating energy and promotes tranquility/peacefulness

  • Tai Chi Stepping Exercises- 3 methods- forward, backwards, and sideways.

  • Bamboo Legs exercise, 2 methods of practicing this vital method of leg development, which utilizes weight shifting and hip rotation (like a figure 8 with the rotation and weight shifting) to condition the ligaments/tendons/muscles/joints of the legs from the ground up and inside out.

  • 2 methods of Tai Chi Rowing drills, one a slow weight shift holding a posture, the other involves weight shifting along with rhythm/flow change, slow to more flowing- again from the ground up and inside out. Each uses a front/back weight shift.

  • Each week we will introduce new methods and review previous.
