Shaolin Qigong/Healing Arts- the Second Treasure of Shaolin

SHAOLIN QIGONG / HEALING ARTS — THE SECOND TREASURE OF SHAOLIN

Shaolin Qigong and the healing arts stand as the Second Treasure of the Shaolin tradition — the vital bridge between inner stillness and outer expression. Where Zen trains the mind to become clear and steady, Qigong trains the energy, breath, and body to move in a way that supports health, harmony, and powerful martial skill.

At its heart, Shaolin Qigong is the art of cultivating life-force — Qi — through stillness, conscious movement, coordinated breathing, and mindful intention.

Over centuries, the Shaolin monks refined this treasure into practices that develop:

• health and vitality

• balance and internal harmony

• healing and recovery

• longevity

• spiritual clarity

• deeper martial power

It is said that without Qigong, the body has no true root, and the martial arts have no true depth.

Qigong was therefore considered indispensable — not optional — for anyone walking the path of Shaolin.

SHAOLIN BUTTERFLY QIGONG AND THE ARTS I TEACH

Alongside classical Shaolin Qigong methods, I also teach Shaolin Butterfly Qigong — a rare, lineage-based style of internal cultivation derived from the equally rare Shaolin Butterfly Style, a high-level Shaolin internal art (neigong quan-fa) preserved through the Pai family lineage.

In addition to these Shaolin methods, I also teach a number of complementary Qigong and internal healing systems, including T’ai Chi Qigong, Daoist Qigong, Japanese Reiki Qigong (reiki-ko / ling qigong), Burmese Min Zin methods, and selected Tibetan, Buddhist, and yogic-influenced healing practices. All of these arts share a common purpose: to cultivate balance, harmony, vitality, emotional stability, spiritual clarity, and the inner strength behind both health and martial skill.

QIGONG AS THE ART OF INTERNAL HARMONY

In Shaolin, Qigong is more than exercise — it is a way of cultivating the inner conditions that create outer strength. When the breath softens, the nervous system settles. When the energy circulates, the body restores itself. When the internal and external align, movement becomes effortless.

Training regularly in the Second Treasure:

• strengthens the body from the inside out

• deepens breath and natural vitality

• relieves tension and quiets the emotions

• enhances martial rooting and power generation

• supports longevity, clarity, and balance in daily life

In this way, Qigong becomes not only a practice, but a medicine — a steady companion for healing, renewal, and personal transformation.

THE PATH CONTINUES

With Zen as the First Treasure and Qigong as the Second, the Shaolin path prepares the body, breath, and mind for the Third Treasure — Shaolin Martial Arts — where these foundations are expressed through movement, technique, and skill.

These three treasures together form a complete path:

Calm mind and spiritual clarity. Balanced and harmonious energy. Skillful action in daily life.
